Dorothy + James
India House Wedding

The India House in lower Manhattan is one of the most interesting places I’ve photographed. It’s a historical building filled with artifacts from all over the world, full of luxe architecture and rich colors. With its eclectic-cool vibe, I can’t think of a better spot for Dorothy and James to have tied the knot last October. These two were some of the most outgoing, quirky and delightful couples I’ve worked with. So, naturally, I had to show off their incredible India House wedding.

Dorothy is, in short, a riot. She’s so much fun to be around! And James is all smiles and good-natured. In her sparkly beaded dress (by Needle & Thread for BHLDN) and his checked tux, they were the epitome of off-beat and stylish on their big day. The laughter and excitement during their first look was the best. We headed to Battery Park for portraits and shots of them with their entourage. There, we took some of my favorite photos of the day: those confetti pictures! Amazing.

The energy and high spirits of the day carried through their ceremony – serenaded by a brass band! – and their cocktail hour and speeches. But the whole day felt like the lead up the totally ridiculous and amazing dance party at the end. Dorothy truly tore it up out there. Can you guys believe that split? But of course, my favorites are when she’s dancing with James. I’ll be thinking back fondly on this warm October day for a long time.
